# What we put in your browser

Last updated: 14 September 2026

In short

Bible Nudge sets no cookies unless you accept them. Nothing here is needed to read the site, and declining costs you nothing: every passage, every page and the matching tool all work exactly the same either way.

## Nothing loads until you say yes

The analytics tags are not on the page in a paused state waiting for permission. They are not on the page at all. Until you accept, the code that would load Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity never runs, so there is nothing to set a cookie and nothing sent to either company.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a no and do not ask. You will not see the notice, and analytics stay off.

## What gets set if you accept

Two analytics services, and these are the cookies they use:

- **Google Analytics** sets `_ga` and a second cookie beginning `_ga_`. They tell Google Analytics whether it has seen this browser before, so a person reading four pages is counted once rather than four times.
- **Microsoft Clarity** sets `_clck`, `_clsk` and sometimes `_cltk`. They join up the pages of one visit, which is what lets us see that people leave a particular page without finding what they came for.

We use these to find out which pages are useful and which are not. Advertising storage is switched off in both, and we have asked Google not to use this data for advertising or to join it to anything else about you.

## If you decline, or change your mind

Declining does not just stop new cookies. We delete the ones listed above if they are already there. You can change your answer whenever you like:

Your browser settings can also block or clear cookies for this site, and that works too. Nothing here depends on you trusting us to honor it.

## Things kept in your browser that are not cookies

Four small pieces of information are stored by your own browser, on your own device. They are never sent to us and they are not shared with anyone:

- Whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we stop asking.
- Whether you chose light, dark, or to follow your device.
- Any nudges you saved.
- Any passages you saved while exploring.

Clearing your browser data for this site removes all four, and the site carries on working without them.

## Where this sits

The fuller picture of what happens to what you type is on the [privacy page](https://biblenudge.com/privacy), and the [terms](https://biblenudge.com/terms) cover use of the site.

## Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
