# Romans 12:15

World English Bible

Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

In the King James Version

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

## What was happening around this

Paul addresses the Roman believers, whom he calls “saints” in 1:7, in a cluster of rapid exhortations following Romans 12:1–8. David McCabe places v. 15 within 12:9–21’s communal pattern, alongside blessing persecutors (v. 14), association with the lowly (v. 16), and refusing retaliation (v. 17). The immediate surroundings therefore include persecution, humility, peace, and non-retaliation.
